Society levels

Every member begins as a Starter and can advance through six levels by showing up, contributing thoughtfully, and helping their society become stronger.

How members advance

Quality of participation matters more than collecting points.

Progress reflects meaningful activity at Society Nights and inside each society: welcoming people, recommending guests, suggesting stories and speakers, supporting good ideas, and sharing experience with others.

Consistent participation helps inform special invitations, access, and approvals. Every contribution should make the circle more useful, generous, and interesting.

Six stages of contribution

The path through the society.

  1. 01

    Just joined

    Starter

You have chosen a society and entered the circle. Start by exploring the member space, attending a Society Night, and learning what the community values.
  2. 02

    Actively participates

    Supporter

You take part: showing up, upvoting useful ideas, suggesting speakers or stories, and recommending thoughtful guests who could add something meaningful.
  3. 03

    Consistently committed

    Serious

Your participation is dependable. You return to Society Nights, follow through on introductions, contribute strong ideas, and help bring excellent new people into the room.
  4. 04

    Experienced and trusted

    Senior

You are a trusted presence with proven judgment. Your recommendations carry weight, your contributions improve the experience, and other members know they can rely on you.
  5. 05

    Teaches and mentors others

    Sensei

You actively help others grow—welcoming new members, sharing expertise, mentoring emerging contributors, and helping speakers turn good ideas into memorable moments.
  6. 06

    Represents exceptional wisdom

    Sage

The highest level recognizes rare wisdom, generosity, and community stewardship. Sages embody the spirit of SF Societies and elevate everyone around them.

Help the circle grow

Bring someone excellent into the room.

One of the most valuable ways to participate is to recommend a thoughtful guest. Choose a society, log in, and use its recommendation form to introduce someone whose perspective, experience, or generosity would strengthen the community. Quality matters more than volume—invite people you would be proud to welcome personally.Recommend a guest
